Genuine questions prompting genuine reflections
The Genuine Question installation is inspiring Figment participants to reflect on norms of communication. The art asks participants to raise a question for folks to answer online, and has a folder full of questions that have been asked. Figment participant Gail, who assisted in the reporting for this article, provided this on the record quote: "I really loved the Genuine Question Booth because it raises thought provoking issues to help you understand how to communicate with people you don't agree. The piece included instructions for how to ask questions that don't provoke debate but come from a place of genuine curiosity."
The artist, Alex Ezorsky, gave the following instructions on the piece: "This project is designed to help you understand the experiences, beliefs, and action of those who you wouldn't normally ask in a way that is safe and teaches story-led conversation rather than debate."
